I love languages and that includes the English language. However, it saddens me that there are those who cannot appreciate the language because of their inability to read. As a teacher it was baffling to me that children were unable to read and write. I wanted to make sense of those problems. I wanted answers. Therefore, I applied to do the Masters in Education in Reading because I prefer to find solutions to problems instead of just focusing on the problems. This program has offered me a wealth of information and I am learning a lot from the various courses. I am thankful that this program has also helped me to develop my computer literacy skills. On completing this degree I hope to help in the eradication of illiteracy in Trinidad and Tobago, and even the world.

  1. Janice, if we had the same surname I would have said that you are my twin. What you wrote are exactly my thoughts. It is good to know that another person or persons are thinking like me. Illiteracy will certainly be eradicated shortly.

  2. Janice the step you have taken to do this course is certainly one in the right direction. With your newly learnt reading skills and your technological expertise you will be able to have your wish one day. Your fight is mine as well let's always keep the children at heart.

  3. Hi Janice,
Your message exudes a certain energy that is appealing and encouraging at a time when many may feel the problem/cxhallenge is bigger than the prospoect of a solution.Somehow, while reading your thoughts, I remembered the story of the children of Sisyphus. I'm not going to go into the details of the story but suffice it to say that we can accomplish much more and sustain success if we support one another and work as a team. One man holding up a huge bolder certainly cannot maintain that kind of support for long but if we help him; he certainly can! Keep giving off your positive vibrations, Janice.
